Hi all, I have recently setup my camping trailer with Victron products. All seems to be working really well except for the solar controller 100/20 which isn’t Bluetooth. I have a 200w solar blanket panel from kings adventure and it only produces around 60w of power which isn’t enough to recharge my 100ah lithium battery. I have checked all connections and still can’t seem to work out what coulD be the problem. Any advice as to any solutions would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
You could get a VE Direct Bluetooth dongle so you can read the MPPT.
Without this you need to get a multimeter and
- Measure the voltage at the MPPT solar terminals and compare that to the panel specification.
- Measure the voltage at the MPPT battery terminals and compare that with the voltage at the battery terminals. These 2 voltages should be the same. If the MPPT terminal voltage is much higher than the battery voltage then this will reduce the power and you would need to find the source of the voltage drop.
Its not unusual for those portable panels to be disappointing. I very often don’t see even 50% of the power they are supposed to have. Even being perdantic with position angle and everything else.
High resistance connections could be part of the issue. (Cable and plugs)
Thanks for the assist and info. I have measured the voltage from the solar panel all the way through. At the panel it’s producing 5.5A & 22v. Same reading all the way until it goes through the mcb then the voltage drops to 15-16v but amps stay the same.
