Victron device intercommunications?

I installed a BMV 712 and a Cerbo GX about 5 years ago to help me manage my new Victron Gels. This spring I upgraded to NG 200 LiFePO4 batteries and installed a VE Bus BMS NG, a Multiplus 3000 and a GX Touch 70. I also have a couple of solar panels and an MPPT.

Interconnecting all these devices was a bit challenging, given the variety of communication protocols and limited numbers of ports, and configuring them was also challenging, as the BMV and the BMS have similar but not identical settings to control charging. Everything seems to be working OK - I can see the status of all 4 batteries on the GX Touch and they are all balanced - but I’ve got a couple of questions that hopefully someone wiser than me can weigh in on:

Do I have them connected right? See attached diagram.

Do I really need all of these systems, esp. the BMV712, which seems to overlap (and potentially conflict) with the BMS?

Thanks in advance,

- David

All OK except you do not need the VE Bus cable between the Cerbo GX and the Multiplus, you only need Multiplus to BMS and BMS to Cerbo. Diagram from the BMS manual.

Great, I’ll remove the extra cable. Follow-on question: do I need to install one of those blue terminator dongles somewhere, and if so where??

No, you do not need the terminator for VE Bus, those are if you have VE CAN connections (Yes another protocol!!).

or BMS CAN.
