Setting disabled when VE.Bus BMS connected

Hi

My system is based on Quattro with Lithium Smart Batteries and a Cerbo. It used be connected with a v1 BMS and a DMC. I have now removed the DMC and replaced the BMS with a v2 following installation guides.

Despited shutting on/off everything, redetecting, restarting BMS I still cannot remotely switch on/off my quattro given the above message.

does anyone know what I can do to solve?

You are running beta software, so start by reverting to a production release. That just confuses things.

I needed virtual tanks in node-red… I’ll try reverting back a GA and report back if that was the issue. Thanks for advising

If that doesn’t help, perhaps consider reflashing the inverter and running through its configuration carefully.

There is a check box in the settings for using a VE Bus BMS, I can not recall if this only applies to V1 version or V1 and V2. Try unchecking it. Did some older firmware versions need an assistant with V1.

if you refer to this one (provided that help entry is missing) I cannot disable it as it comes also with the selection of the Smart Batteries. If I deselect it Victron batteries are unconfigured, if I reselect such the BMS option is enabled back

3.54 (official) did not helped

Try use veflash, reset it and reload your config, maybe that helps

just done that and even with default config I have the same message

Can clarify what you mean by default? The fresh config won’t support the BMS without additional programming.

immediately after flashing (and you could see from my screen the new version) the system detected the BMS without any config. VEconfig state also that if you disable ve bus bms but it’s still connected it will be enabled back automatically. I still haven’t loaded my previous config!

The GX will detect it, the inverter won’t without configuration.

here’s to confirm this is the config I found upon reconnecting Veconfig to my quattro after the FW upgrade and reading its config:

my config has assistants and vs disabled so I’m 100% sure it not “mine”

interesting enough my MPPTs are now both reporting loss of communication with BMS

although the Quattro can see it fine

suggestions?

Ok. I suggested veflash, that would wipe the config, so presumably you used a different method?
Failing that, something else is broken or mis-wired or configured. Unfortunately it’s difficult to diagnose remotely.

Its important every mppt/charger is powered off as well.

I used veflash.

you mean powering off mppts during the upgrade process? I guess i would mean disconnecting their DC cables right?

Mppts should have isolators, they have to be powered off after a BMS change.

@nickdb Since FW 489 the MultiPlus/Quattro will automatically detect the VE.Bus BMS and configure itself to it.

@stepir You didn’t check the “overruled by remote” for AC IN 1.

Ooh. Progress

it is in my config:
