I have a Multiplus 12V 3000kVA 120A on board an need to change the Multiplus settings for charging an LiFePO4 battery bank.
Can this be done with a dongle and the victron connect android app?
If not, what is needed to change these settings?
What is the advantage of using an adapter and connect Multiplus to a PC?
I need to do it myself as there is no expert in a reasonable distance.
Thanks in advance for helping replies
All Basic settings for mobile installations can be done with the MK3 adapter and an android phone with the Victron Connect app.
The advantage with a windows PC is you can programm some of the more advanced things like the ESS assistant with VE config.
Hi LX,
Thanks for your quick and already helpful reply.
In the manual’s screen shot you kindly provided there is a statement:
Lithium Batteries
This setting is not yet supported in VictronConnect yet, use
VEConfigure to configure it.
So my understanding is that I need MK3-USB adapter and the VEConfigure software.
Helpful replies are highly appreciated
@ocean11
There is an option to enable lithium battery mode

The link provided should have shown you the above. Please attach a screen shot of what you viewed. Lithium batteries have been programmable for some time now.
Thanks again LX,
the screenshot I saw is the exactly the one you attached with the text framed in red being the text I saw.
For me it’s a bit confusing finding in one and the same manual a bit conflicting statements.
With other words I can use the VictronConnect Android app and the VE dongle https://www.victronenergy.com/communication-centres/ve-bus-smart-dongle to set my Mulitplus to charging of Li batteries.
I hope that understanding is no correct.
I have updated and programmed many inverters with my android phone and an mk3 adapter (with an otg adapter) and i only use lithiums. I do not install lead acid batteries.
Yes it is possible. I am answering from personal experience
LX:
mk3 adapte
Thanks LX!
You are guru and I am the newbie.
Now I understand better. You used the mk3 adapter. In my newbie understanding the mk3 adapter is for connection of a multiplus to an PC.
How did you connect your Android phone with VictronConnect app to the Mulitplus?
I am sorry for another newbie question raise toward a guru.
On the mk3 to usbs adapter there are two types of usb connectors available now. So you can just buy the right one immediately.
I have the older one designed for PCs and use an OTG adapter like this one
Thanks again Mr. guru, you are getting a newbie to understand more.
Your connection is Mulitplus - RJ45 - mk3 - USB A - USB C - android phone
Can you also update the firmware of the Multiplus with this connection?
What settings of the Mulitplus cannot be changed with this connection?

Yes.
All basic settings. No grid code or ess.
wonderful news Mr. guru!
It seems that I can get in Japan the https://www.victronenergy.com/communication-centres/ve-bus-smart-dongle
Can I use this dongle in the same way as the mk3 adapter or are there more limitation in possible settings of the Mulitplus than with the mk3 adapter?

Now I know what I need to get and how can update firmware and make Li settings in my Multiplus.
I will get the mk3 adapter even if it appears to not be that easy.
