Victron bluesolar charging too high for agm

Hi, bought a used one from ebay and its been charging my agm batteries (parallel, both reading equal voltages) at 16v, only bulk. Ive read the manual and it says it locks into the first battery voltage after reset, they used a12v 7ah lithium. Im to understand that it doesn’t lock in battery type, only voltage and the seller’s husband is a victron technician and she said he reset it correctly including turning off within 10 seconds.

So whats the issue? Well, the problem and solution without doubling the cost with a ve.direct to usb cable

you need to connect to the unit and reset the configuration. Use a usb/VE direct cable - as you don’t say it is a smart solar (which can connect with bluetooth), this will likely be your only option.

I was hoping that wasnt having to be the case due to it already being reset by a victron technician and should have been ready to go.

There are a number of BlueSolar controllers, what do you have? Many of them have a charge profile rotary switch.

You can find the user and installation manual for your model by looking here and selecting your model: Solar charge controllers | Victron Energy

That will be the best place to start with working out how to set it up properly!

Unfortunately so mike. Now after saying to her that a smartsolar im bidding on to replace it ends in a week, exactly in a week shes going on holiday until august 17th

Bluesolar 75/15. Just a nice little controller no fuss to run a 150w panel and a bit of hands on learning until i eventually build something bigger alongside it with a lifepo4 and inverter.

Never mind. The VE direct cable is worth the investment, and you can use that to reset and trim the default values as you need.

Ive (today) ordered a new smartsolar 75/15 instead, i can return the used bluesolar 75/15 and for £20 more, get what the £36 dongle does. The lady hasnt gotten back to me if her “victron engineer” husband has a spare cable for me to use and then send back (with the bluesolar if necessary).
Anyway, ive just ordered a 60ah lifepo4, are you certain its just stuck on lithium battery mode? Just wanted to try it before sending back if it still has some use, otherwise i’ll use my epever 30a for a 2nd rig, which ive tested today on a sla

If you do a factory reset you also reset the automatic voltage selection, so you need to turn the device off before it does the automatic voltage selection.
That way the device will detect the correct voltage the next time it gets connected.
