Running the latest beta (not sure exactly when this changed, but recently) I noticed that my WS500 is finally showing as connected over RV-C. This is great!
It’s an issue I was trying to figure out for a year and appears to have been resolved but I don’t see any mention in the release notes. Here are my system details:
Lithionics BMS and WS500 are connected to the RV-C bus which is connected to the can port on the Cerbo. BMS and WS500 are configured as directed by Lithionics so the BMS directly controls the WS500 over RV-C. This works well. The Cerbo has DVCC enabled, and controls the MPPT. For some reason the WS500 would never show up as a device on the Cerbo, but the BMS and everything else on the RV-C bus shows up fine.
If I temp switch the protocol on the Cerbo can port to ve.can, I see the WS500 as a device but the battery drops offline. This never made sense to me because the BMS and WS500 speak to each other over RV-C, but the alternator would never show up as a device and the BMS would. Fortunately this is finally fixed!
It would be nice if a control was added to turn the alternator charging off.
