Use only solar surplus on EVCS?

Quick heads-up, sorry if this has been covered before, but I couldn’t find exactly what I’m looking for.

I’ve got an 8kW Multiplus II inverter, a Cerbo GX, and the Victron EV charger. I saw that feature to charge my EV using only the solar surplus, so I enabled it!

The thing is, when I set “Auto” charge mode, the charging power slowly ramps up to about 7kW (which is the max it can do). But here’s the kicker: it doesn’t stick to my solar surplus (which is currently around 2kW).

Is it even possible to strictly limit the charging to only the solar surplus available at that exact moment? My EV charger is hooked up to AC IN.

Also, I’ve noticed something else: all the power consumed by my EV charger doesn’t seem to be recognized by the Victron system as “grid consumption.”

Is that normal behavior?

Any insights or tips would be super helpful! Thanks a bunch in advance!

Hello @Navok .
It seems your EV is charging on a single phase only. For one phase, the maximum power is 32 A × 230 V = 7,360 W (as you mentioned above). So, the EV is already drawing the maximum power possible.

If you want to speed up charging and utilize all available surplus power, you should check whether your EV supports 3-phase AC charging and whether your EV cable is also compatible with 3-phase charging.
