Urgent Issue with Victron 15KVA Inverter and VE.Bus Communication

Please, what is the actual problem with our Victron 15KVA inverter?

Each time the inverter goes off, it cannot be restarted unless we first remove the VE.Bus data cable from the Color Control GX (CCGX). Once the cable is disconnected, we can then restart the system.
We’ve already updated the CCGX firmware to version 3.55 and the inverter firmware is 2656556
, but the issue still persists.
We urgently need a solution to this problem.

Thank you.

I have exactly the same problem with my Multiplus. It used to work fine, then stopped switching on with the VE.Bus cable connected to the GX device. I hope someone has the answer on here! Thanks…

Is the Cerbo powered from AC with an adapter?

No please, the CCGX is powered from the DC Batteries Busbar

It’s just the most obvious reason the inverter would not boot, so I had to ask.

The CCGX is operating normally with the inverter off? Why is the inverter shutdown? Intentionally or due to low SOC? Can you tell us more about your system?

On your CCGX the inverter switch is set to ON?

I have a very similar issue:

My MultiPlus-II was working fine with the GX device connected via VE.Bus for 5 years. Then one day it would not switch on unless the VE.Bus connection was unplugged, then I could replug it and everything is fine. I since replaced my Venus GX with a Cerbo GX but the same thing happens.

I think back to what occurred between it working and not working. The only thing I can think of was that the battery protect had kicked in with a low SOC when my boat was laid-up and I had to recharge the batteries to bring everything back up. Why this behaviour continues, I do not know…

@Skipper, sometimes when you turn off the inverter and try to restart it, it won’t start unless you first remove the VE.Bus data cable."

I cannot speak for @Augustine1992 , but my inverter is shut down overnight when I am off grid on my boat.

@Skipper Yes, the CCGX works well when Inverter is OFF. Once a while the inverter shutdown due to batteries low or overload.

Not sure what could cause this. This other topic seems to have a similar issue:

So, I tried powering the Cerbo from other cables coming from the battery in case of some slight voltage drop vs the feed to the Multiplus; it made no difference.

I read in the Cerbo Manual FAQs (19.2.20 Q20) that when using other power sources than the battery you can remove pin 7 from the VE.Bus connector to allow the Multiplus to startup with the cable to the GX device connected.

Tonight I made a VE.Bus patch cable without pin 7 and tried it between my Multiplus and Cerbo. I could turn the Multiplus inverter on/off with the new VE.Bus cable in place without any issues. There was a warning that the Multiplus may take more standby current with such a cable, but I don’t detect any increase.

If all remains well, I will make this modification permanent.
