Multiplus Inverter will not restart after shut down when connected to the new Cerbo GX MK2. The VEBUS cable must be disconnected from the inverter before the inverter will restart.
The inverter works fine with a Cerbo GX and Cerbo S GX.
Anyone have have the same issue?
Hi Bluey. I have had this issue once before and it was caused by a faulty comms cable, try replacing your cable and checking again, even if the cable seems fine.
Hi Jacques. I have tested with at least 5 cables. Cat5 to Cat 8. Still no joy. The think is that all works OK with the cerbo GX and Cerbo S GX. So the cable is not the issue.
Odd. So what inverter is that? Or do you mean disconnect from the Cerbo? Also. Which port exactly do you use on the Cerbo GX MKII? I have my JK-BMS connected to a BMS-CAN port. Terminator in the one next to it.
Yes it is very odd. It is a Multiplus II Cerbo VEBUS Port
Have you checked programming on the Inverter with a MK3 to USB Dongle hooked up to a computer? Also, more information on the system would be helpful. What is the platform? House, RV? What are the batteries? Is there shore/grid power? Solar? Pictures of the system are always helpful too.
Yes I have tried with a MK3 adapter. It is a fixed house set up. LIFEPO4 48V battery bank. No grid power.
This is a video link that shows the issue:
This is quite peculiar, what firmware version are you running on the multi and on the gx?
Hold on. That blue cable isn’t your Ethernet cable to the Cerbo GX MKII?
Hi ChiefSolar I am not sure what you mean. The blue cable is the VE BUS cable to Cerbo VE BUS port.
BMS cables must only go to the BMS CAN port, not the VECAN port. Make sure you are using the right ports and that they are teminated.
This is what me got confused. So it’s not the CAN cable after all? Just to be absolutely 100% certain…without additional info.
Also, that is the VEBUS cable being shown, not CAN. So it would help to know what is connected where.
Yeah but he said CAN cable disconnect from the inverter so that got me confused. Should not be a CAN cable.
Yes Sorry that was my mistake. It is the VEBUS cable. It is a standard network cable with no terminators.
Keep in mind, that is I swap out the Cerbo GX MK2 with a Cerbo GX, it all works fine.
Firmware to all devices is the latest and up to date.
Ok. Clear. No worries. Please share a picture of your Cerbo GX MKII cabling.
Are all settings on the Cerbo device the same as the other?
Did you try swapping ports?
Also. You may need to reset the VE bus on the Cerbo after you’ve swapped the Cerbo.
Hi SolarChief Yes all the settings the same. There are 2 ports on the inverter, 2 ports on the Cerbo. I will do 4 tests tomorrow, and tests all 4 possible combinations. I did do 1 port swap, but not the 4 possible combiations. Thanks
I did do VEbus resets, and I have completed the tests on swapping the ports and the condition is still the same.
