Strange Display Behavior / Flickering

Hi Folks,

I have had an EVCS for 2 weeks. Everything works as expected, but sometimes the display flickers. The hardware extension (small mini circuit board) was included in the package. I plugged it in when I installed the wallbox. If the display flickers, only a reset will help.

Is this a known problem? Has anyone had this before?

Hello Tido . Can you check if you have connected ferrite coil to EVCS relay output.

Thanks Nicolas for checking this out. I don’t know if it is related but sometimes my EVCS display got corrupted when contactor close/open. The only way to recover is to cycle the power.

Best.

Hello @vicq . Yes, it is the same issue. Can you please check if you have that ferrite coil near with EVCS relay output?

Thank you for your prompt response, Nicolas.

Yes, there is a ferrite coil installed, positioned almost exactly as shown in the picture you attached. Additionally, I’ve added another ferrite coil to the data wiring harness, but unfortunately, the display corruption persists—perhaps slightly less frequently, but it still occurs. It seems to be related to induced or transient currents interfering with the communication between the board and the display, but I’m not sure what else I can do to further reduce or eliminate these issues.

If you have any additional suggestions or troubleshooting steps, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Thank you again for your support.

Hello @vicq . Ok. I see.
We can try to add some delay to turn-off contact when there is no current consumption from the EV. I will write you PM.

Hello Nicolas,

thanks for the quick response. Yes, the ferrite core is installed in my EVCS:

I think, that the display shows the same behavior as vicq’s wallbox. Cycling the power is the only remedy.

Hello Tido. Ok. Let’s try same solution. I’ll write you PM.
