Smartsolar won't charge, bluesolar was ok!

Hi! The cables from my solar panels show 40V, but once in the 100/30 smartsolar, the app says 0V…and the screws of the charger shows 0V too… i cheked everything 10 times. The positive cable in the positive entry, etc… it was working fine with the bluesolar i just disconnected to use a smartsolar. Is it faulty?

(i’m using: a 480W panel, lifepo4 12V 100ah battery, bestek 300w pure sin wave inverter… 6 and 8 awg cable)

Thanks for your advice!

  1. PV Cables (unconnected): 40V measured at the cable ends.

  2. Test A (Continuity): Battery (+) to PV (-) terminal screw = 13V (Continuity OK).

  3. Test B (Continuity): Battery (-) to PV (+) terminal screw = 0V (Failure).

The tests indicate a physical continuity failure (likely a cold solder joint or broken trace) between the PV (+) terminal block and the internal PCB.

Is there any firmware-level protection that could cause this, or should I proceed with an RMA for a DOA (Dead on Arrival) unit (Amazon Mexico)?

Reverse polarity PV will show up at the mppt as 0 volts.

Check again.

Yep reversed Polarity

Thanks for your reply!

It’s not that…
Or could it be that the entry in the Victron is reversed? where it says +, it’s in fact the negative? Can i test if it’s the case, or can it be dangerous (for me or the charger)?

I just reconnect my bluesolar, and the bulk light is active again (working… not like with the smartsolar, that this led stays blinking)

Is it programmed? The only other reason is a pv short for protection.

Have a look at the trouble shooting section of the manual, and perform checks in the Pre RMA form.

Might be a faulty mppt.
