I have 6 - 200w solar panels on my ketch with a Victron 150/35 smart solar charger connected to a 48v battery bank of 16 Eve LiFePo4 280a cells. I use a JK BMS to monitor and control the balancing and charging, etc. I have had no issues with the JK BMS that I know of. The battery bank is presently at 51.02v or 3.189 per cell and the cell difference is 0.013v. The batter voltage is low enough that it should be receiving a charge but the charger is acting like the battery bank is full, no watts.
On a good day I can get up to 700 watts. This spring I disconnected the bimini panels and took them off so that I could do some work on the mizzen boom. When that work was done I put the panels back on and re-connected them. I was very careful to mark every side of each disconnect (A-A, B-B, C-C, etc.) before I disconnected them to make sure that I re-connected them back the way they were. The connectors are MC-4s. I completed that project and turned the solar back on.
The panels are producing the usual volts, 111v but, no watts. There are times now, also, when the unit doesn’t show up on the Victron app and to see it I have to turn the solar off and on and then restart the app and, most times, the smart solar comes back up on my phone. I don’t know if the two conditions are in any way related.
There is a 25a fuse/circuit breaker between the charger and the bus bar. When I shut the fuse/circuit breaker off and then back on there is a very brief recognition of watts as the reading goes from 1 to 5w very quickly and then goes back to zero. I would say that the “brief recognition” lasts a second or two only.
I am baffled. Any ideas for resolving this would be helpful. Thanks very much.
