Hi all,
We have an off grid cabin which runs off 3x410w Canadians connected to a Smartsolar 150-60 and 4 x 110 ah leisure batteries in parallel. We have a phoenix 12/375 inverter.
The system usually operates like clockwork - charging during the day and draining during the night, but has never ran out. The voltage has deteriorated gradually over the last year, but I’m aware that a couple of the batteries are a bit dodgy and are to be replaced for the coming winter months.
Today however there was hardly any charging and the charging that did took place seems random. A couple of hours ago the inverter shut off with the low voltage alarm.
The screen shot below shows voltages for today (and previous days). Obviously somethings not right!
I haven’t had a chance to investigate fully as we have paying guests staying tonight (I’ve hooked up a backup battery), so I’m hoping that I can get some ideas of what to look out for/check come tomorrow.
The only thing that I could have done to affect the operation of the controller was accidentally start an equalisation charge - I stopped it within 10 seconds.
I will be checking the voltages from the panels first thing - but if there’s anything else I should be checking I’d appreciate any useful advice!
