I already discussed the problem here a few weeks ago. “I’m using several SmartShunt 500A units (firmware 4.19, latest VictronConnect). In the technical data is mentioned the battery capacity can be set from 1 to 9999 Ah, but I can only set it up to 999 Ah”. I was helped immediately that the problem would be solved with the new FW. I tried several Smartshunt I had in stock but could not load the latest FW. Since the articles were from June I ordered new ones. I have now received these but I cannot load the latest FW 4.20, it is only ever 4.19 and you can only set up to 999 Ah.
4.19 is the last FW version for SmartShunt/BMV:
What VictronConnect version do you have installed? *
Did you try to use another phone/tablet?
Do you get an error? Can you make a screenshot?
*VictronConnect has been updated yesterday and there is a fix for an issue with entering numbers greater than 999
you made my day! it was pretty easy… the issue was the “old” Victron Connect… sorry for borring you ![]()
Hi, I have same problem in shunt there is last FW 4.19 and Victron Connect last versin 6.24.
When I try to increas over 999 then number becomes red.
Setting is in Czech as follow:
Edit: my Product ID is A389 SmartShunt 500A/50mV
Please add a screenshot with the “red number”.
Edit: I tried changing language setting and is the same so the numerical thousands spliting should not be a problem
Do you enter the number manually or with the +/- button?
There is a space between 1 and 0, try to delete that.
We had that problem a while ago with other strange symbols.
Can you try other devices, maybe with the demo library?
I tried both +/- and fill complete number.
If I tried put in number higher than 999 then pressed OK button it will close popup window but the numbe is changed to 1 only.
If I tried demo product it is the same fault
Hi, Normally there should be an apostrophe after the thousands (1’000Ah). I also couldn’t set it higher than 999. it only worked after I deleted and reinstalled the app (on Apple iOS).
Still the same after reinstalation on iPhone and on PC also
I looks like problem with national setting in phone and computer for numerical values as thousands has in Czech space instead apostrophe. Will try to change national setting of some computer for test.
Edit: Ok guys problem solved…
The problem is the national setting of device where I am using Victron Connect. If there is Czech setting the problem is the space, when using English (Europe) then thousands separator is coma and then can set higher value then 999. I think that will be good the Victron will make changes in new VC releas and include space as separator for thousands.
Thanks for help both of you guys
I have noticed that we have a similar problem, but it seems to be isolated to iPhones, where if you attempt to enter a battery capacity over 999AH, it defaults to 1AH. We are based in South Africa and tested on Smartshunt and BMV all running latest firmware and latest application firmware.
Yes exactly, the problem is software for iOS as there is a wrong reading of large values over 999 you put in capacity windows or using plus button to increase it. You can fix it fast using PC or laptop with installed last version of Victron Connect with changed national setting to English, then is possible to go above 999 value.
I just installed another 300Ah battery and tried to adjust the Battery Capacity to my new total 1100Ah…but it seems that setting has a limit of 999 Ah Tried to change language, reinstalling app and regardless of entering number or using +/- …latest firmware and latest App (on iPhone) As I searched for a solution (not yet found) I came across these much older posts stating the same…bug reintroduced?
I never had that problem with Android, maybe the problem is Apple?
You could test the current beta version of VC:

Agree, Probably the iPhone version of VictronConnect that handles larger numbers wrong … hope that the next release solves this. The beta description looks promising.
