Hi,
would it be possible to get the readout of the AUX Voltage (2nd Battery Voltage) from the smart shunt on the VRM?
The smart shunt is configured to measure the DC current from the battery to DC loads! Not as battery monitor. The Cerbo GX is configured to (has DC system). It shows correctly that DC consumption in VRM.
If a smartshunt is configured as default, there is the possibility to show the Aux Voltage (Starter Battery) under menu Battery management. Not if it is configured to DC monitor. (it does not appear as option)
Could that be implemented please?
THX
I agree with you on this having just installed a SmartShunt as DC loads and connected aux to the bow thruster batteries. I also found it can not be displayed on the Dashboard screen. I have found that you can create a graph with it on the Advanced page.
Just a small point. When configuring the Smartshunt to show in the ‘DC Power’ tile, set it to ‘DC System’ rather than ‘Generic Load’. The tile will then show the actual shunt reading rather than a calculated figure.
I can’t remember if the Aux reading turns up, but you might be lucky…
Thanks, this is done like that. It shows correctly the DC Current. Just dont remember the exact name in the smart shunt configuration but this is set correctly. The point is, you cant select the Aux in Battery monitor if you set it as DC System.
Thanks, can you please explain where you could find it? I cant…
When set to ‘DC Energy Meter’ it defaults to ‘Generic Load’. Change that to ‘DC System’.
Aux is still selectable for Starter and Temp. No Mid-point though.
Thanks,
it is set to DC System. Aux is defined as Starter Battery (Voltage).
Where does this Voltage shows up?
I cant remember if Aux shows on Dashboard. It does in widgets.
Even in widgets i cant find it because its not declared as device…
It does not show up in VRM Dashboard. On the battery monitor page on Venus OS it does not give you the option to display the DC Energy Meter aux voltage like it does with a battery monitor SmartShunt or BMV.
I have looked again and you are right, the DC Energy Meter SmartShunt does not show up as a separate device. Going back I found that I had added it to a custom widget I already had set up as another data item. The only way to get it graphed is therefore through a custom widget. See pics below. Batteries in main battery from the BMV in the house batteries, starter is the aux off the BMV. Then the DC Loads - Auxiliary is the DC System SmartShunt aux, the bow thruster battery voltage, which normally follows the starter battery if everything is working as designed. It is set as DC System but I have called it DC Loads.
Hey all, Settings → System setup → Battery measurements is where you configure which batteries are shown on VRM Dashboard
Hey, thanks pwfarnell, thats already a good way!
To mpvader: this is just the point, this doesnt work because the smart shunt is set as DC System and then does not appear in this menu. In the developement they forgot to give access to aux voltage here.
@mpvader Matthijs, DC energy meter SmartShunt aux does not appear here, strictly defined, it is not a battery monitor, but the aux measurement is and it would be good to have it on VRM Dashboard.
