Same instance number for two devices

In my system, two devices have the same instance number.

One of the chargers has the same number as the shunt.

Is this a conflict?

You can change that in the GX menu:

Numbers in blue boxes can be edited.

@MikeD I notice that you also have number “20” twice. I don’t know if duplicates are an issue.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
But please explain how to access the GX menu.
Is what you sent the way to access the menu via the VRM?
I have a Multiplus II GX with a built-in GX module.
I have access to the VRM portal or this small two-line LCD display built into my Multiplus.

Does not seem to be, but Generic temp input is not used.

This is accessed in several ways:
Locally - using touch screen plugged into the Cerbo. tap on settings (gear wheel) sysmbol.
Over your LAN: Enter “Venus.local” in web browser, then settings.
From VRM using remote console.

Hope this helps.
see Cerbo GX Manual
form more information.

Or on the GX screen itself, settings>VRM>VRM instance numbers. Alternatively, you can use the VRM remote console itself in the same way.

Hi all,

Venus OS ensures that there are no conflicts, so there’s nothing to worry. In general, VRM device instances are unique per device type – e.g., having a PV inverter and a temperature sensor with the same instance is not a problem at all.

Hello,
Thank you all for participating in the discussion and trying to help.
Indeed, as Philipp Trenz mentioned, I read somewhere on the old forum that instance numbers can have the same value for different devices.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a touchscreen for GX, but I think I’ll have to consider purchasing one.
Regarding the remote console, I have access there and I can access it as you suggested.
I find the instance numbers there, but I can’t modify them.

Hello again,
I’m sorry, but the setting MikeD mentioned is indeed available in the “Settings” menu and the VRM submenu.

I’m now wondering whether to change it and whether it makes any sense.

Is it causing any problems? If not, leave it alone. If you need to access one device through node red for example, then it may need to be changed to prevent conflict. Duplicate Id’s normally occur when there is an unused device.
