Replace Multiplus II Internal GX Device with Cerbo GX

I currently have a Multiplus II GX 48/5000.

I’m looking to buy a dedicated Cerbo GX for added system flexibility, but before I do, I want to be clear of the process for adding one.

In VRM under ‘General’ I can see the option to replace your GX device as per the following image:

A few questions if I may:

  1. “The historical data from your current installation will be preserved.” Does this mean that the historic data will be moved / ported from the Multiplus II GX to Cerbo or mean that it will be retained /preserved within the Multiplus GX? If the later then it means I need to keep the MP II GX Device live.
  2. Once replaced is it OK to leave the Multiplus II GX device enabled / connected or should it be disconnected as per this link?
  3. I assume if I disconnect the GX device in the MP II then the screen will no longer operate on the device. Is this correct?

Thanks in Advance,

All historic data is preserved, same process as replacing a cerbo/venus.
No issue with leaving the GX module powered, it just will be consuming power, so rather disconnect it.
I would not expect the LCD to work.

Thanks a lot @nickdb much appreciated.

Just for my understanding:
The replacement in the VRM portal is the one part, but can a dedicated Cerbo GX can be used to collect the data from the MP II GX?

How ist the MP II GX connected to the Cerbo? Simply use VE.bus?

Can the internal and external GX device be used in parallel?

S.

This will be in manuals. All a MP2 GX is, is a standard multiplus 2, with an embedded GX device in the chassis, the inverter connects to it with a vebus connection.
As documented in the GX manuals, one GX per system, you have to disconnect the internal one.
