PylonTech Battery Numbering as Reported by CerboGX

Hi all,

Working on finalising our new ESS here, and that of course includes labeling everything. Have struck a minor problem - in the Victron document about Victron and PylonTech batteries it states that the batteries are numbered starting at 01 and are DECIMAL ie 01 to 09 then 10, 11, etc. On the touchscreen the Cerbo seems to report the battery numbers in HEXADECIMAL ie: 01 to 0F.

What is the RIGHT answer here - I want the equipment labels to match the Cerbo onscreen. Does the numbering base start at 00 or 01 ?? Hopefully somebody can sort out this confusion and correct the documents to be harmonious.

BUMP !

Was hoping somebody could answer this soon - want to get on finishing the documentation and it is held up by this !

On my system with 5 US3000C and 1 US3000 running the latest available firmware for each series and chip type they show up as follows:

My understanding is e.g. 0105 with 01 being the stack and 05 the location of that battery in the stack. If you have two stacks second stack will be 0205 etc. Don’t quote me on it though.

Thanks for the responses. A picture is beginning to form, but still incomplete. Everyone so far reports the numbering system begins at 01 for the first battery in a stack. The system here comprises 16 US5000Bs, so a “fully developed” stack. Our Cerbo reports batteries with labels like 010C - so obviously hexadecimal. Does that mean our stack is gonna number from 0101 to 0109, then 010A to 010F, and finally 0110 for the 16th battery ?

I do not have a difinitive answer, but if that is your current observation, then it may well be the case. Maybe Pylontech can shed light on it as the numbers are likely assigned by the master and merely displayed at the Victron end.

I will ask in the PylonTech Group I am in

Still keen to hear other opinions and information here too !

Those numbers are reported by Pylontech firmware and Cerbo is just showing them.
First two digits are the group number, starting from 01 and the last two digits are the battery number also starting from 01, 01 being the master, the battery where the Cerbo is connected.
First two digits will always be 01 for those who have only one group, as many do.
Just like @ejrossouw said and you already figured out.
