Powering Cerbo GX Display

I’m looking for a little advice here.

I am installing a GX 50 display in my RV. I have extended the HDMI cable to run back to the CERBO GX. And was hoping to put in a USB port, avoiding running a USB cable all the way back to the.Cerbo.

My RV has a master disconnect that would power the Cerbo GX upon initializing the connection from the batteries. The USB port would be powered once I initialize the power switch inside the trailer. In other words the HDMI connection would be powered first and the USB connection would be powered after.

My question is does this cause a problem do both the HDMI connection and the USB connection have to be initialized at the same time?

If this question is redundant and has been answered on here before I apologize, I did do some research but did not find any thing relating to this

It’s worth noting that extending the HDMI is not supported - proceed at your own risk on that. Sometimes it works fine, sometimes it doesn’t work at all or causes erroneous reaction in touch instances, sometimes it works fine for a year and then burns out the video output on the Cerbo… the unpredictability of response is why it isn’t supported. The design intent is that you mount the Cerbo within ~5’ of the GX Touch, connect the GX Touch HDMI directly to the Cerbo, along with the included ferrite beads as detailed in the GX Touch insert, and instead extend your data cables to the Cerbo - thus why Victron offers RJ45 UTP and VE.Direct cables in almost any length you’d need.

That said, to directly answer your question, powering the Touch is possible through any stable USB supply, that part is no problem at all.

Sometimes, when you connect the HDMI first and then the USB, the display works, but the touch doesn’t. Usually, everything works fine when the USB is connected before the HDMI. For the extension, my Touch 50 worked fine with a 10-meter HDMI 2.0 cable, and for the USB extension, it worked fine with a 6-meter USB 3.0 cable.
