PHASE overload on multi RS solar inverter - system

Hi there,

I have an OFF-grid system with 9pc of Multi RS solar inverters, Cerbo
24 batteries of MG of 25,6V 304Ah
3x MG master LV and a MG smartlink

and a backup generator for when the soc goes below 20%

The system is running wel for so far.

The only thing is:

The only connection on the AC input of the inverters is from the genset. When the genset starts i am getting an Phase overload in each phase. could you guys know what is going wrong here? Checked all cables and connecions.

I

Confirm you have a three phase parrallel system with the Multi RS?

Or did you mean the multiplus 2?

3 Phase parrallel, exactly with Multi RS,

I had to go back to the manual but i checked and as far as i can read your set-up is not supported by the RS unit:

Parallel units are not supported

The Multi RS Solar does not support synchronising AC output sine waves between parallel units. It is not yet known if the current hardware revision will be able to support parallel configurations via a firmware update in the future

Above is extract from the manual…
So unless you are working with some victron dealers testing new developments it is surprising it even works…

Thats why is was confirming. As @Jean-Marc mentioned. And states in the links provided this is not a supported set up.

Only single units per phase are possible.

You will need to change your system design.

Ok thankyou guys,

Right now i have it already installed, strange this is, it works. But not with generator voltage on the ac input.

In this case, what would be the correct way to solve this issue, get other inverters?

Inverting would probably be ok. The real question is how did you program it?
But the connection to input sources is the main issue.

Option 1.
The Inverter RS (and you can almost just drop them in place) can be three phase phase parallel connected.

They do not take AC in connections.

Then you just need some dedicated inverter chargers for grid charging only.

Option 2
Switch to the MPPT RS for solar and three phase parrallel connect MP2 5kVas. The overall system power may be slightly lower though depending on your battery voltage now on the RS

Oke, thankyou.

For option 1, what kind of inverter chargers for grid would you suggest? I can use the Multi rs solar in charge only mode right?

The problem is the configuration of the multi RS.

So i am looking at the SKYLLA 48/50 charger ( 9x), do you have an other suggestion?

Also i am using a MG smartlink battery controller, can the SKYLLA work with it?

Or you can wait a little longer and live with the errors, until the paralleling of Multi RS will be available…
Maybe…

I have no idea what to suggest as i know nothing of the sites needs/wants or what generator is there.
And of course what is cost effective for you right now to correct and keep the site running.

Thankyou for your answers my friend.

I would like to know if i use the Inverter RS as you said, and i want to use the SKYLLA 48/50 with its max charging current, if that will function correctly.

110kva genset 220/380v, see schematics in attachment.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. You will need a large number of units of the skylla to work the generator in a reasonable manner.

That is true. Ok thanks my friend.
I was just looking at the Easy solar- II GX, that would be an option also, sinds it can work in parallel and 3 phase.
