hi guys, i’m new to victron, i am building a very basic system as i dont need a lot of power, please could i ask for advise on my understanding of wiring, see attached basic drawing i did, i’m running an orion xs, mppt 100/30, phoenix 12/375 and a smart shunt, battery bank is 2 lead acid totalling 210ah, 410w glass pv, please note, i’m aware that the batteries are to be connected in parallel, not series as drawn, thanks in advance
Looks OK for a basic schematic.
With the service batteries going in parallel you can use the aux terminal on the SmartShunt to measure the cranking battery voltage.
You do not need a fuse between the MPPT and the solar panel, the solar panel is current limited, just make the wire big enough.
You need a fuse on the positive wire from the service battery to the bus bar, close to the battery. You need a fuse on the bus bar exit to the dc loads panel.
The Orion XS output fuse should be at the bus bar, it is there to provide short circuit protection from the battery supply as that is the highest current source.
Read all the manuals they should recommend fuse and cable sizes for each unit. You will have to work out for the combined cables. Have a look at the Victron book “wiring unlimited” for info on cable sizes, voltage drop and fusing.
