Outdoor installations - Superpack batteries

Hello,

I am running several specialist wildlife trail cameras in woodlands off Victron Superpack batteries, they use about 2-4 watts. I have also linked them up to solar panels with a Victron BMS to extend the deployments.

The Victron guidance says that the lithium batteries are not waterproof and should not be exposed to moisture. I have been mounting the batteries in MAX400 IP67 cases to keep them dry but am aware that ventilation is also important.

Is there any guidance from Victron on installing batteries outside or do Victron just say avoid this altogether?

Thanks,

Sam

As long as there is an over-pressure relief valve, then you should be ok with your enclosures.

Thankyou, that’s really useful. The cases do have a pressure relief valve built in.I couldn’t find any clear guidance online so it’s nice to know that this is a sensible option
