Orion XS lithium algorithm preset

Hi, I have an Orion XS charging a Baintec 110 a/hr lithium battery. I have it set on the lithium preset that the charger comes programmed with. My questions are what is the Rec phase ( I assume it is recondition ) and should I be using that on my battery? Does it balance the cells? And is it ok to leave the charger on all the time once the battery is fully charged?

If REC is indeed Recondition then no you do not want to use that for a LiFePO₄ battery. A reconditioning (aka equalization?) phase typically uses a voltage above the 14.6 volts that a LiFePO₄ should be charged at. In theory, the BMS in your LiFePO₄ battery will cut off charging when it encounters such a high voltage. But not all BMS will do that and not all BMS are configured to stop at 14.6 volts.

If you select the LiFePO₄ charge profile, the equalization phase should be turned off by default.

Once the battery is charged, the charger should go into float mode. The current will be low and sometimes zero, depending on what else is going on.

I use the Victron defaults for LiFePO₄. That’s been working well for me for the past five years.

Thanks Jim. I’m only assuming Rec stands for recondition because I can’t find any thing in the manual about it. I have the charger set on the smart lithium profile. It is the only lithium profile that comes pre loaded in the charger. Like you I believe a recondition phase would be bad for a lithium battery and is the reason I asked the question. Equalisation is disabled in the smart lithium profile as in the pictures posted. So my confusion is what is Rec and should I be using it?

Rec = “Recondition”, which is referred to in the docs as “Equalization”, and no, you definitely should not be using it.
