Orion Smart TR 24/24/17 always in absorption load mode

Hello,

I have a pretty basic setup for my van: a 24V LiFePo-battery which is loaded either through solar panels and/or a mppt or via a orion smart tr 24/24V 17A.

My Problem ist that the orion smart ist always in absortion load mode even when the battery is only at 40%.

I use the preset values for smart lifepo batteries which are 28,4V for absorption voltage, 27V for float voltage and 0,2V for re-bulk voltage offset.

The device detects engine on perfectly and starts loading in bulk mode - but only for a minute and than switches in absorption mode regardless of the battery charge state or the the battery voltage.

Any suggestions what could be wrong in my setup?

Going from bulk to absorption occurs when the Orion output termimals reach absorption voltage, not the battery voltage. The usual problem is a poor high resistance connection between the Orion and the battery with a high voltage drop. Use your multimeter on each connection to fi d the poor one or see if anything has vibrated loose or any wires chafed through etc.
