Not showing current

Hello, fitted the SmartSolar MPPT 100/15 to my motorhome, it’s showing voltage ok but has only once ever showen current via the app on my phone and that was only the first time of starting the system up could someone tell me why it’s not evenshowing anytime when I switch everything on lights, fridge etc. At the moment it’s showing about 20.05 volts from the solar panels to the batterys but no current .

The solar panel voltage has to be 5.0V higher than the battery voltage to start, at 20.05V you should be OK.

The vast majority of problems are poor connections, failed fuses or breakers between the MPPT and the battery if you see panel voltage but no amps. The 100/15 has a car type blade fuse built in by the terminals, check this is OK.

Check voltage at the MPPT terminals and the battery terminals with a multimeter, if the connection is good they should read the same.

You could also add a screenshot of the status page as that often gives a clue.

Here’s the screen shot.

Your solar voltage is below the 5V threshold needed to start.
With the battery at 13.87V you would need a minimum of 18.87V to start, you have 18.3..

The first picture was taken when the sun went in,here’s a new one with 20 plus volts on it,even it shown 22 plus there has alway been no current showing

Then follow the advice given above. Something isn’t connected right or a fuse has popped somewhere.

The volts at the connections are the same as what’s showing at the same time as what’s on the App.

You also measure 13.8V at the terminals of the MPPT? What does the battery itself measure to, directly on its terminals, i bet its less. Check the connection between the MPPT and the battery, theres going to be something loose, disconnected, blown fuse

This is my set up.

Check the inline fuse, check the disconnect (the can fail as well), then follow the cabling

(Also, MC4 inline fuse on the batteryside, thats a first for me)

I would temporarily remove the disconnect.

Measure at the battery and at the terminals of the mppt, if they don’t match you have an issue.
Do a test without the holders, switches, isolators etc out of the chain.
Something is broken..
Almost always it’s the wiring/connections.
A meter tracing it out will show where it is.

Disconnect the plus wire from the solar panel and got up wattage on the screen came up around 4W stayed there for about 30 seconds and the went back to nothing again, Disconnect twice and the same happened both time wattage only showed for 30 seconds, my battery is a 130amp lead acid type would that make a difference.

Hi Nick.
What setting should a leasure battry be on it’s a 130 amp lead acid type as it just says User defined so would this be set for my battery. Thanks.

User defined means it is a customised setting. You would typically use a traditional default then modify it for your battery.
I’m more of a lithium guy these days, but I am sure @pwfarnell can help with pointers.
(also check the FAQs pinned to this section)

Generic settings for a leisure battery would be 14.5V absorption, 13.7V float. Battery manufacturer info is usually the best guide.

I thought that that Victron controller came factory set to the"battery Life’ setting?
Did you reset it? and could that have an effect?
