When starting the app on my Android tablett my devices are listed but during the connection procedure there is no popup for the code unlike on my iOS phone where everything works. Anything that I can do to fix it?
Is the mppt already bound in android itself ? Then you’ll need to delete it there.
What exactly do you understand by “bound”? Could you be more specific here?
Does it turn up in the android bt device list ?
Depending on the Android version or OS modifications from the manufacturer it is possible that you get a notification in the top notification bar (pull down from the top).
This is how the screen locks like:
When I select a device it changes to:
A few seconds later (no pop-ups or notifications on the screen) I get this:
I should note that I can connect to the devices on my iOS phone:
Here it is waiting for the PIN. Did you try to pull down the notification bar?
What Android version is running on that device?
What VictronConnect version do you have?
The Garmin Tread is running on Android 10, App version see below:
When I pull down the notification bar I get this:
Try clicking the bt symbol
The BT symbol does only switch off BT. Tried that already, switching it on again, does not bring up anything new.
You have a to pull it down during the connection process around 20%.
If that doesn’t work it is something with your tablet.
If I see that correctly it I more like a navigation system, not a tablet.
Maybe there are some restrictions from the manufacturer.
At this point (20%) it is not waiting for the PIN. That happens at 80%. At 20%, Android is making a connection to the product and when the tablet/phone thinks it is paired, it will start encryption on the connection. This is also the reason that the connection can fail at 20% when the Victron product does not have bond information, but the tablet/phone has bond information.
So if it does not go beyond 20%, please check whether the product is already paired in the Android Bluetooth menu.

There is a bug i have noticed on Android (which is the only phone/tablet we use) where connecting to a GX device works the first time, but won’t reconnect later.
The solution to this is to go into your list of BT devices, and “forget” the GX. At this point, you reconnect, get asked for the PIN, and it all works again.
I suspect (but don’t have time to debug) that the Android OS is getting in the way, and maybe the code that branches between “an app is controlling this device” vs “the OS is controlling this device, and presenting a virtual device to any/all apps” doesn’t run the 2nd time around, so the OS hooks the device.
All i can say so far, is that every single time that our devices fail to get from 20% to a valid connection, “forgetting” the device fixes the issue.
I believe that you are right. The UI is heavily customized on this “tablet”. Installing applications is not officially suported by Garmin (basically they refuse any support in that case) and it’s only possible if you make yourself a “developer” (in the definition of Garmin). Nevertheless I hoped that I can get it working because it looks quite promising and I think the only hurdle is that the input of the PIN for the victron devices is not showing up.
The progress reaches 80%:
but jumps back to 1% from there:
This repeats two times, after reaching 80% for the third time, the “failed connection” pop-up appears:
Maybe this helps to identify the root cause and possible a fix.
Hi @BerndN
It could very well be that the pincode entry is not implemented / disabled on this tablet. What we have also seen is that some other app “hijacks” the pin code request and provides some fixed pincode to Android and then Android never shows the pincode entry dialog. Do you perhaps have other apps installed on the tablet that communicate with devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (so not Bluetooth Audio)? If so, you can retry after uninstalled these apps.
Another thing you can try is to connect and pair from the Android Bluetooth menu. Normally this is not recommended, but there is less harm when the firmware of the Victron product is up to date and it is worth a try as it is also not working as it is now.
If this all does not work, can you perhaps create a service report after trying to connect and post that here? Perhaps this provides us some more information on what is going on.

Hi,
this device of course talks to other devices using BT. Namely it talks to my mobile phone and to the car’s BT audio streaming channel. When pairing with those you are asked to confirm the code that is showing up on either “device” (car or phone). I don’t know of other BT (LE) devices that are being used/connected to. Trying to pair from the OS menu (victron FW was updated using my iOS phne) looks as follows:
However this process never (I did wait a considerable amount of time) terminates (i.e. the progress bar/spinner never disappears).
I would of course create a service report if there is even a slight chance that it might help, however how do I do that?
Forgot to address your question regarding uninstalling apps. There are apps pre-installed on the tablet. But uninstalling them is not straighforward because the normal UI does not allow to do so (I would have to figure out how to uninstall them first and I’m not really an Android expert) and secondly I don’t have the installation sources. I could re-image the whole device to restore the apps but then I would assume that any pairing information is wiped out as well.
Is there another way of getting pairing info into the device?
Hi @BerndN
Did you press one of the Victron devices in this menu? That is normally the trigger to connect and pair.
Kind regards,
Thiemo van Engelen
The progress bar / spinner shows up once you press the button for one of the two listed victron devices. As said before this spinner never disappears / the process does not terminate.
