Anyone else having problems with the new look Victron website? I’m finding that the links and menu items don’t respond to clicks. Microsoft Edge on IOS.
Is it possible you could do a screen recording reproducing the issue, and post it so I can pass it on to the developers to have a look?
Obviously you can’t see my finger but I think you can see the icons that are being clicked.
For the purpose of the video I didn’t wait very long between clicks.
The same happens if I use the menu items at the top.
Hope this helps.
Can confirm this is the case on all Microsoft Edge browsers on IOS. Have tried it on 5 different devices.
I’m surprised that 20 days after reporting this the Victron website still does not work on one of the most common browsers on one of the most common platforms.
Maybe the issue can’t be reproduced?
There are no other complains about that.
What iOS and Edge version do you have installed?
Can you try another browser on that device?
Hi @guystewart
It seems that he is using touches.
The menu is designed with “on mouse over” in mind, to expand when the mouse is over it.
Not always is working with a touch screen, or can be confusing when touching main categories…
Or another thing…
When first touching “Support”, then the pages “Products”, “Information” and “Download” are not reacting when touched and the main menu doesn’t expand or page changes.
Probably because the content from info and download is already in the support page?
Or because the support page is the old one?
In contrast, after first load, touching info and download the menu expands.
While both are independently popular, the combination is not. It has around 0.3% share, which is dwarfed by both safari and chrome, so from a testing perspective, these issues are more likely to be missed.
I am not even certain that edge on IOS is one of the supported/tested browsers.
It is seriously niche.
I’ve now replicated this on 5 different IOS devices, 3 iPads and 2 iPhones. iOS version is 18.5 and Edge version is 136.0.3240.77
Did you also test another browser?
Maybe it’s your odd combination of iOS and Edge?
I tested Edge on a Windows Laptop with touchscreen and it works good.
Other browsers work fine. Also Edge works fine on a PC. Edge is not a niche browser.
Hi @Timd_chapman,
Thanks for the report,
I have forwarded it to the team and I am sure it will be fixed shortly.
The reality is you don’t really get other browsers on IOS, due to the way the OS works.
It may say firefox, or edge etc, but it is effectively just wrapping Apple’s webkit, which is what Safari is based on.
This is why only Safari supports extensions and as a result compatibility/functionality can be way off on others.
Edge on Desktop/windows, is not vaguely the same as the IOS implementation, which is why next to no one uses it on IOS, but it is obviously popular on windows.
The two share little in compatibility and I would be surprised if anyone (besides Victron) tests these third party webkit wrappers on Apple mobile devices.
Officially, you would be part of 0.3% of the browsing community using that combination. Firefox on IOS being 0.5%
Incidentally, I tested with the more mature firefox implementation (they were the first to offer an IOS browser) and it seems to render fine in mobile view and when switching to desktop mode. Edge had issues with product selections.
