I am new to this community, just to learn more about my Victron system in our hybrid caravan.
I had an old Samsung Note 10.1 Edition 2014 tablet, running on Android 5.1.1.
I managed to upgrade to Android 9, did the factory reset, clicked 6 times on the Hello/Welcome or whatever the text was, and it says that it opens the QR thingy.
Then I pointed the camera to the QR code which was visible on my screen.
Nothing happens. It looks like it isn’t a QR reader?
What am I doing wrong?
Or do I need Android 10 or higher?
Thank you very much, Jeroen.
I thought it would be easier. I don’t feel so confident with Linux.
In the settings on the Android device, the last line is https://192.168.xxx.yyy/gui-v2. I was hoping that I would just have to change v2 to v1 there – like when calling it in a web browser, for example – and it would work. But how?
Best regards, M.
Hi Everyone,
Version 1.00beta7 has been released.
- Stop disabling the power button menu. Some models have difficulty powering off with a long press of the power button.
- Add an icon for the Android launcher.
- Made some minor improvements.
From beta 5 onwards, you can update by pressing the ‘Check for updates’ button in the service menu.
So far, we haven’t been able to reproduce this issue. However, we’ve made some changes in beta 7 that might resolve it. Please test it and let us know the results.
Running V1.6 check for updates and offers V1.7, click to install and nothing happens!….check 5 mins later still running on V1.6 repeat update process and same outcome!
Samsung Galaxy A9
How was the app installed, using the QR code or manually via the APK?
QR code, been running seamlessly
Updated to v7 this morning, but no change. Interestingly enough, the white bar disappears during the Loading page, then reappears slightly wider during the initial Connected page. See attached shots…
Good afternoon,
@jperez;
I have just used a new motorola g34 5g 8gb 256gb phone.
The set-up was a piece of cake and it runs just fine, very nice.
Very nice menus and way more info than through a Cerbo with a 50 display, I have to say.
I hope that you can present a permanent version soon, very nice, thank you already.
However, I cannot switch the phone off.
If I switch it off with whatever buttons, then it restarts again and goes to the victron page.
This phone normally switches off by using the “up volume” and “on/off” buttons at the same time, but that also does not work.
Another thing I would like to see is the screen on timer, 1/2/5/10/30/never off-minutes choice.
And, the SOC percentage of the battery of the phone itself, as now I cannot see that at all, this as I like to use it also for quick field service, not having to look for a wall socket as these are sometimes further away, so not handy.
Regards, Jeroen.
I also have the same white line down the right hand side of the display.
Try pressing in the lower left corner of the screen for ~5 seconds, it opens a window where you can make phone-specific changes like screen timeout and display phone battery state of charge.
Update!….. power cycled the display, initiated V1.7 Fw update….checked this morning and it’s showing V1.7. @jperez
Hi Everyone,
Version 1.00beta8 has been released.
- Fix some Android models reboot instead of power off when pressing the power button.
- Small layout improvements
From beta 5 onwards, you can update by pressing the ‘Check for updates’ button in the service menu.
Thanks for the update. We’ve checked the updater code and didn’t find any obvious issues.
It’s possible that, during the first attempts, your Android device downloaded a cached version of the APK instead of the latest one. When you retried later, the cache may have already been refreshed.
Or do you think the power cycle was actually necessary to resolve the issue?
We released beta8 a couple of minutes ago. It would be great to know if the update works as expected this time.
Thank you for the feedback. The pictures you shared prompted us to explore other potential fixes.
The recently released beta8 includes some changes that might resolve this issue. Please let us know if it works for you.
Thanks for the reply…
I will try and update to V1.8 and will initiate the update only once and leave it, and hopefully it will go through.
Good afternoon,
Beta 7 was done this morning, motorola g34, no direct visual changes, no white line.
@solarphil, pressing low left corner, thanks for that, I will try it next week, just left the site.
Regards, Jeroen.
Tried updating apk installed v1.6 with update button, says downloading then install error.
Then tried downloading apk / install, running this came up with do you want to update, clicked yes.
App then launched, checked version still v1.6.
Tried the update button and no updates available.
Will look tomorrow if version has updated.
@jperez … all functioning as expected with installing V1.8 as per your instruction
@jperez success! Updated to v1.8 and the white line on Tab M8 is gone. Looks like you can check this one off the list
Nice work, kudos to the team
