New Install MultiPlus-II VE.Bus Error 15

Hi,

System is all wired up Multiplus II, Cerbo GX MK2 and Lynx Smart NG. The batteries arrived and all hooked up. The invertor is not working and amongst other alarms (relating low battery, low cell voltage, state of charge) I get a VE.Bus Error 15 alarm. The multiplus is blinking “bulk” and “inverter on” and doing a cycle. There is no charge voltage appearing on the inverter. This is all telling me BMS (via Cerbo) is not talking to the Multiplus. I have cheked the rj45 cables and have the ve.can rj45 terminations are installed. All of the firmware is up to date. Please help with some idea on what to do next as I am stuck !

Thanks !

This is what error 15 means:

Error 15 - VE.Bus combination error

A combination error of VE.Bus products, firmware versions or commands has occurred

This error can occur for example when:

  • An Interface-1140 with old firmware is combined with a new Multi firmware

  • When external BMS commands are send while a VE.Bus BMS is connected

  • The connected VE.Bus product firmware versions are incompatible. (This can in most cases be solved by updating the firmware.)

Recovery: auto-restart once the error is gone.

What batterys/bms are you using and is the cerbo can port set up correctly?

Hi,

I found that but not sure where to go next with it. The batteries are victron Lifepo4 NG and Lynx Smart BMS NG. How do I verify if the cerbo can port is set up correctly? The system came from a distributor so in theory it should all be configured and ready to go.

Im not familiar with the lynx bms but cerbo settings are found here:

That doesn’t mean that it is pre-configured for you unless it was sold as a pre-configured set.

Check that all communication cables are connected to the correct ports.

The BMS has VE.Can and the MultiPlus has VE.Bus!

Yeah I have all can and bus the right way around. The can port seems to be configured correctly.

Okay, I am told that the SOC is too low and the inverter is not interested for this reason. I need to charge the batteries and the problem will be solved. I have ordered a charger so will have an answer in the next 24 hours.

I am also told the ve bus alarm is spurious and will clear up when I get the batteries charged up. Let’s see…..
