Multiplus integration

New install. Victron LiFePO4 Ng 2@300 amps, 2 Lynx distributors, Lynx BMS Ng, Gerbo GX, Multiplus 2 12-3k-120.

The issue is; Multiplus is stuck displaying “low battery “.

What I’ve done to debug:
1)Updated versions on all devices and firmware on the Multi.
2)Swapped out the Multi 2 and charged the batteries with a Multi 1. No problems.
3)Ran the multi 2 on a bench with a lead acid battery, no problem.
4)Re-installed the Multi 2 in the system same issue.

When I restore factory settings all lights good.
When I set battery type to Victron with BMS low power light comes on multi is no good.

I’ve factory reset all items, checked and replaced all the cables, removed power from the batteries and cold started the system. No change.

The multi is good, the BMS is working properly and all cells in the battery are within range and only 0.01v off.
No error messages

What am I missing?

What exact setting are you using that you’re calling “Victron with BMS”, and where are you seeing that setting?
A fairly common mistake is setting the unit to look for a VE.Bus BMS, which isn’t on the system and will therefore cause it to error.

That setting is in the Multiplus accessing through the config program. It’s a choice of battery types. I think the long description is;

Victron LifePO4 with BMS

FYI the GX unit can see the Mulit but can’t read its settings.

Clearly a Smartshunt missing…

You do not need a smartshunt in this set up, the Lynx NG BMS has one built in, make sure you know the product when offering advice.

If you are using VE Configure then these are my Multiplus (original not 2) settings with NG batteries and Lynx NG BMS.

Do not select the “Configured for VE Bus BMS”

If programming through VEConnect then I assume that there is a similar setting, do no choose with BMS.

In this forum we all have not seen a bms yet that can compete with the precision of the smartshunt. Nobody has experience with the NG yet, the cost of a smartshunt stands in no relation to the grand total.

So imho i gave a solid advice.

No troubles with my NG set up, should be OK as based on the Lynx BMS which has proven OK.

That is correct, the GX device cannot be used for programming the Multi.
The reason I asked about the exact wording is that “Victron LiFePO4 with BMS” isn’t wording that appears in Victron settings that I’m familiar with, so the exact wording is good to establish so we know which setting you’re seeing. Most likely, as @pwfarnell has noted, you’ve chosen “VE.Bus BMS”, which will indeed cause the unit to alarm and shut down, as the Lynx Smart BMS NG is not a VE.Bus BMS.

Ok. Thats makes sense. I’ll try de-selecting the battery type and specifying the BMS the other way.
I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Thanks
