I have a 5000VA Multiplus II circuit breaker, and following the forum’s recommendations not to install any residual current device (RCD) on the AC IN line, I’ve ended up with the following wiring diagram:
Does this look correct?
However, I have a concern: everything within the red circle is not protected by any RCD. What would happen if the Victron circuit breaker, for whatever reason, had a short circuit and someone touched it?
At least in Austria, RCDs are only required for sockets, not for permanently installed devices. Therefore, there is no RCD on the ACin. Work on the MP-II may only be carried out by a qualified electrician who knows how to protect themselves from accidents.
Furthermore, the ÖVE guideline R20 in Austria specifies that a 100 mA RCS (selective Type!!!) must be installed on the ACout. This means a pre-fused, selective 40 A 100 mA RCD at this point:
This is what the ground stud is for. This should be permanently bonded to the Mains ground for AC in.
All of what Grua says above is true, mostly how this is wired is subject to local regulations.
