Hi,
I have a MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 GX operating with an input limit of around 1700w then assisting.
I would like to increase the system capacity by adding a second device in parallel, but the documentation says it has to be the same model.
I’m planning to by a ‘plain’ MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 as the datasheets says ‘Only one GX unit is needed in case of Parallel and three phase operation’, but should I be buying another MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 GX?
Thanks,
John
You can buy a vanilla MP, but you should try to get a manufacturing date of the new unit as close as possible to your current MultiPlus to avoid issues making sure the units have the same hardware revision.
Depending on who you ask, this needs to be as close as the same production batch to maximum 12 months apart. So before buying, ask if you can get the serial number so you can check when it was made.
do you just want to charge the batteries faster?
If so, there are much easier solutions
Thanks, so it may be better to purchase two new units, as I could use the existing GX elsewhere.
EDIT: Actually, more sense to buy a single 10kw version, if paralleling needs more version co-ordination.
I’m on the end of a very long 10mm2 cable, so it limits me to around 1700w before the voltage drop is too much.
The existing Multiplus in assist mode means I can occasionally use up to 5kw (peak), and let it trickle the batteries back up.
I’m not too concerned about the speed of recharge, I just want to not have to think about putting the kettle on when the oven is also on.
A single unit is always easier to manage than paralleling. Just make sure you have enough battery capacity when installing a larger unit as your discharge currents are likely going to be higher. Would a single 6k5 unit not be enough? It can do 6kW continuous or 8kW for 1 hour max. You can buy them with a GX build in as well. Above the 6k5 you’ll have to get a Cerbo GX.
