Adding an additional multiplus

I currently have a Multiplus GX 48/3000 installed with 2 Mppt’s and 1000ah of battery. I would like to add more capacity to the discharge rate as 3000 is not enough for our newly installed Heatpump. Rather than replace the existing multiplus, can I simply add a 48/5000 unit (without GX) in parallel with the existing unit, and run the entire system from my existing GX multiplus ? Thanks.

No, all MP2s in a group must be of same type and to some extend same age. Sometimes there are slight HW changes . Approach your distributor or directly buy a 6k5.
You can use the 3k as charger from small generator.

To add to what @BjoernK has said, I had 2 quattros (not multis but I assume the logic is the same) 2 years apart and they worked just fine in parallel. The type of microprocessor is important. Check with your distributor/installer first. You can use @nickdb script to troubleshoot any imbalance.

I have the same issue and need more power.

Is it possible to add a second Victron system (and second GX) and use some Node Red scripts.

@fredvduin I don’t know if it’s possible with some modifications to add a second GX device but it’s not officially supported. 1 GX device per system.

If you must use a second Multi or Quattro purely for charging, why not simply connect it through MK3?

Of course, you won’t then get all the data. You won’t see your second Multi or Quattro on the overview page but you get access to the available data (I don’t know which data) through advanced widgets. I haven’t done it myself but some post here says you also get two control panels for on, off, inverter only and charger only.

You can daisy-chain the BMS-Can to a second GX device and thus feed two victron systems from the same battery bank, but as you said thats not officially supported
