Multiplus 48/10000 not charging

Hi I have a new Multiplus 48/10000 to be setup in an AC Coupled system. I have yet to find an electrician to wire in the Grid and Solar so at this stage I just wanted to charge my battery as it arrived at 51% charge. After connecting the battery and configuring ESS with the Multi and Cerbo GX the Multi is saying the battery is 100% charged but the low battery LED is flashing red. So I am thinking I have configured the wrong settings.

To charge the battery I wired in AC from a standard 10amp socket (configured multi to limit 10amp) and then pressed the switch to battery charge. This did begin charging at a very low rate 2 to 3 amps which was least putting a charge into the battery. After turning the system off and starting it the next day the inverters starts in inverter mode but when I turned the AC power on it makes 3 or 4 loud clunks and registers AC but goes into pass through mode and no longer charges. Is this a configuration issue or a faulty charge controller. I have pasted some info and a video of the clunking.

thanks Kevin

Take ess assistant off if you want to just charge up the bank for now.

The system is rejecting the grid as an improper connection (which it is).

You showed every screenshot except the battery charging one. So we can’t verify anything there and haven’t said what batteries you have either.
Also the input current limit would need to be a bit lower than 10A for protection reasons. I see 50 on the first screenshot. Is the GX hooked up? ESS only works when there is a GX in place and you are hard wired correctly. (Which i guess you will have to be patient about :upside_down_face:)

Hi thanks for the reply, the battery is a 600amp lifepo4 supplied by docan China. Yes the gx is hooked up but I guess a jumped the gun a bit configuring things early. I intended to do a reset but found out that isn’t possible once the grid code is set without a password. What would you recommend limiting the the charging amps too just to get a decent charge in before the electrician does the install? It has defaulted to 140amp after making the changes.

This will automatically happen when you limit the grid input current limit. Keep it around 8A.

Delete the ess assistant. The grid code is ok for now.

Switch the inverter into charger only mode.

OK thanks for the information was the clunking normal as per the video.

It is the normal relay test sequence.

That’s a relief I will try the updated settings tonight

All good back to charging at 4.2amps which I am happy with. Thank you very much for your help
