MultiPlus 2000 Turning Off in UPS Mode

Hi All,

Our MultiPlus 12/2000/80-50 120V is connected to shore power at a marina in the US.
We have two 400 AH 12 LiPo4 batteries with internal BMS connected to the DC of the MP.

We have UPS selected in our VE Configure and firmware version 552 running on the MP.

We monitor the system through a Cerbo GX.

All systems are functioning as expected except for UPS mode. As soon as we disconnect shore power, our MP goes to off with no AC loads on the system and no DC loads on the system.

I have uploaded our VE Configure files for examination.

Can an expert look at our configuration files and let us know if we have a setting we have missed in VE Configure that will prevent the MP from switching to UPS mode?

Thanks for reading,

Couldn’t look at the remote file as i am on mobile.
But usually when this happens the battery isn’t supplying anything. Check fusing if you have or if the battery is dropping below your cut off.

Is the multi set to charger only?
Or perhaps the GX set to charger only?

Thanks for your response.

The Multi is set to on. I just went throught the GX settings again and do not see a Charger Only setting for the GX. Where can I find this in the GX settings?

Thank you for your response.

The DC bus is still live after the shore power is disconnected. We just can’t invert for AC loads because the MP is going into OFF mode instead of UPS mode. I mentioned no DC loads on the system because I wanted to insure we were not tripping the DC system with a sudden inrush when the loads transferred to the MP inverter.

Via remote console.
Remote console V2 > click on toggles top left of screen.
Click on mode to check / change.

Remote console V1. 5 Ways to Control Your Victron Inverter!

Control via VRM.

Yeah, it is set to ON at both these locations as well.

Can you post a screenshot or photo of what the gx is showing?

See if this helps, it’s a mystery to me.

Sounds like a blown fuse or open connection between the MultiPlus and the battery.
Does the MultiPlus charge your batteries with shore power?

Can you check the voltage at the terminals of the MultiPlus?

The MultiPlus is set up to charge the batteries with priority going to solar.

In the portal, it appears the MP is charging the batteries and when charged, it goes into Sustain mode. Wouldn’t the lack of DC voltage from the batteries either through open connection or blown fuse cause a fault in the Sustain mode when solar wasn’t generating?

I’m not likely to get to the boat today, but might make it down tomorrow and checking the DC voltage is easy enough.

Solar is charging the battery, the inverter is not. (See idle in the widget.) It seems the connection from the mppt to the battery is fine.

The voltage on the inverter is 13.05 and the battery is showing 13.35 so unless you have a massive voltage drop between the inverter and battery… The fuse is blown.

There is not much more help here until someone there physically - actually checks the fusing with a meter and the connection between the battery and the inverter.

This will be comical if it turns out to be such an obvious fix, but I have a feeling the obvious is obvious now.

Thanks for your response.

This is the answer. Thanks all for your contribution.
