Hi all,
I’ve got a MultiPlus 1600 connected to batteries. When I plug it in and set it to charge, it charges fine, but once the batteries are fully charged it doesn’t keep them topped up, they just discharge fully.
I suspect it’s something to do with the bulk/absorption/float settings not being right for my batteries, but I can’t confirm or adjust this without VEConfigure.
I don’t have an MK3-USB interface and can’t really justify buying one for a one-off configuration change. Is there anyone in the East Midlands area (near Nottingham/Long Eaton) who has one I could borrow for an afternoon, or who’d be willing to help me get the settings sorted?
Happy to travel a reasonable distance, bring biscuits, cover any costs etc.
Thanks in advance!
I wish I lived nearby. I would come help. My wife and I love the UK. Or if you want to come to the Oregon in the United States I would be happy to help.
You are correct though in that it will be hard to troubleshoot if you don’t know how the inverter was programmed. Some info on your batteries will be important to anyone trying to sort it out as well.
Buying an MK3 wouldn’t be a bad investment. What if you change your batteries in the future and need to change charge settings? What if you install the unit in a different scenario and want to program it accordingly? Program some relays? All that needs the MK3. You can also use it to update firmware.
See you in Oregon soon?
A journey for the MK3 but if I am ever in the area! It is a good point about having the system for a long time and it might go through a few configurations, batteries typically won’t last as long. They are LiFePo4 batteries, they have their own charge protection and BMS so in an ideal world the charger would just constantly provide the 14.4 V to the system and the batteries can manage themselves.
Not quite. They still need a periodic absorption charge to keeps cells balanced.
