Multiplus 12/1200/50 - MPPT still needed?

Hello,

I have a MPPT 100|30 + Phoenix 12|250 but I want to switch on AC if I don’t have enough power from the solar panel or in the battery (I have low load in the AC output).

I’m not sure to understand how to connect a solar panel to the Multiplus 12/1200/50.

Does the charger in the Multiplus only work with the AC input or can it work with an 12V input from the solar panel without the MPPT ?

I think I have the answer in the shematic from the documentation “1.6kVA 12V MultiPlus 230V with VE.Bus BMS BMV Cerbo GX Touch 50 Smart BatteryProtects MPPT Orion-Tr smart” but I want to be sure.

If I read the documentation above right, I still need the MPPT for my solar panel to charge the battery.
And I connect my AC IN and my battery to the Multiplus (with the right configuration for the AC switch) to work as intended.

Thanks in advance,

Raphael

Hi,

/this.

Yes.

The Multi RS would be an inverter + mppt combined - but way beyond the “scope” of a single 12V panel.
