Hello
Please advise if it is possible to daisy chain an MPPT RS 450/200 with an MPPT RS 45O/100 to achieve synchronisation with both.
Thanks
Many thanks
If I’m reading this correctly, to add a second MPPT RS into the mix, it just needs to connect to the other MPPT with the RJ45 cable (and of course to the battery bus). Does it also require a VE.Direct connection to the Cerbo GX or does the original MPPT handle that connection for both through its VE.Direct cable?
Just the daisy chained ve.can for comms. you’d want the terminator in the empty port at end of chain.
Edit you need to go from cerbo to first 450 via ve.can, then over to 2nd 450 ve.can, then terminator. Also to the lynx shunt if you have one. Terminate the open port on the cerbo if there is one.
Okay, so MPPT 1 currently has a VE.Direct into the Cerbo and nothing in the VE.CAN RJ45 slots. So I’ll just put up the second MPPT and plug an RJ45 into it with a terminator and the other end in MPPT 1 with a terminator. That’s what I originally thought but silly AI was telling me both MPPTs needed a VE.Direct cable into the Cerbo…
You will then need to chage the one using ve direct to can as well to compete the chain to the GX can port.
And make sure the port speeds is 250kbs
Alternatively, you could connect the second MPPT also via VE Direct to the Cerbo but no connection between the MPTTs. The two MPTTs will be synchronized by the Cerbo, assuming you have a BMS connected to the Cerbo.
Ah, got ya. So I need to remove my VE.Direct cable connection with my current MPPT and instead use one of the CAN bus RJ45 slots to connect to the Cerbo, and then the other CAN slot to the other MPPT to daisy chain. So only one terminator will be used between the two MPPTs. Thank you!
Place a terminator in the unused port of the cerbo as well. Need to terminate both ends of the chain.
Right on, thank you sir!
