How to Add second MPPT Charger to EasySolar II GX

Hi,
I’m looking to expand my current system.
I have an EasySolar II GX 48/5000 with an internal 250/100 VE.Can MPPT controller connected to a Pylontech battery bank.
Is it possible to add a second MPPT so I can add additional solar panels?
Can I do this by linking the two chargers using VE.Can?
Will the built in GX controller “see” the second charger and panels, or will I need to disable the onboard GX controller and use a Cerbo GX to get VRM access to everything?
Any advice appreciated.

Since the Easysolar has a GX device and VE.Can bus integrated, it should be possible to easily add another VE.Can enabled charge controller from the SmartSolar line.
The new device will show up in the GX device list and be accessible just as the integrated components are now.
Pretty much as close to “plug and play” as one can get with chargers.

Thanks
I was hoping that would be the case - I am assuming I just need to connect the two charge controllers using a VE.Can cable to daisy chain them.
Many thanks

Hi you can also use “cheaper” VE direct victron mppt’s

So for an Easysolar II 48/3000, I could for example use the Bluesolar 150/35 MPPT (for a second string with two additional panels) and connect via VE.direct, and I would still be able to see the second MPPT in the venus device list and be able to read out the registers from the Easysolar II via modbus for example?

The connection would then go from from the second MPPT to the VE.direct connector on the top-left side on the image, right? And the more expensive 150/70 VE.can version would connect to one of the RJ45 VE.Bus connectors in the center of the image. Is that right?

Yes you can also use a usb to ve direct cable to connect another one instead of a ve can version

Or use a powered usb hub and connect multiple

How would the connection from the second MPPT to the battery look like? According to the inside view of the Easysolar II 48/3000 (see image), the internal 250/70 MPPT is connected to the battery via some “coil”, but I am not sure if one has access to those MPPT-sided connectors, I guess not. Would it be ok to connect the second MPPT directly to the battery connectors (bottom side in the image)?

You wil have to use a small busbar you cant stack connectors, so battery, easysolar and extra mppts need to be connected to that

But the battery itself and the battery output port of the internal 250/70 MPPT are not directly connected, so I am not sure if the wiring for the interal MPPT should be changed just to have a common busbar?

But would it be possible to at least connect the battery output port of the additional 150/35 MPPT to the connectors marked with “B” in the following image, or would it have to go to the connectors marked with “A”?
The first variant (B) would be easier, as the battery ports of the Easysolar-II can be accessed directly without having to disassemble the Easysolar-II.

No you dont have to change anything in the easysolar, second goes to B, but busbar is abetter option if you are going to connect multiple dc devices in your system, also dont forget to fuse the extra mppt
