MP II Firmware update procedure error

I had to do some firmware updates on MP II’s and ran into a serious error where the number 4 in the following screenshot wasn’t true. It did NOT set the charge current to zero. Instead it tried to charge with 50A from the grid, and that times three is too much for a lot of batteries. I had no idea, but the customer said: “Hold on. Why are we pulling that many amps?” We quickly reacted. Stopped the charging by pressing the emergency button. This is outright dangerous! Could have ended very VERY badly.

Note: 16A AC basically means charging with 70A DC and 32A AC makes 140A DC. Already close to the max of 0.5C. Let alone 50A.

Sure. The BMS should step in, but sometimes there’s nothing you can do. Then you can’s change settings and your Victron kits needs to act like it should.

On a side note. Can you please make everything work without the need for a Windows OS. I mean come on. In this time and erra. With so many MAC/iOS devices. Victron is way WAY behind other companies where Windows is no longer required.

Was this for a multi inverter system?

Yes, but the setup wasn’t finished so I did it one by one. Basically still a single MP setup due to missing cables.

I use windows and droids so not totally familiar with ios. I do know a feature that i wish i had was bluetooth from my windows laptop, that is one thing mac/ios has that windows does not.

Yeah I’m pretty certain a lot of people do. As for me. I worked on Apple MacOS for seven years as developer, so there is no going back for me. I did get a Windows notebook to work with Victron hardware but it is hard to get used to it.

Lol. Yes. I require a total brain re wire when switching between the two.
