Most effective way to add Multiplus II GX to my BMV 712/Victron connect system?

My Current system has a BMV 712 with a !00/50 and 100/30 Smart Solar controller, an XS12v/12V 50A and XS 1400 50A and a Multiplus II GX 3k 230V.

I am happy with the BMV 712 and Victron Connect but can’t connect the Multi plus II without using a VE.Bus Smart Dongle which seems a waste of money as it is close to the price of a Cerbo GX?

Can anyone please advise if I can add a Cerbo GX in the back end with a VE Direct Cable between the BMV 712 and the Cerbo GX and a VE Bus cable between the Multiplus lI and the Cerbo GX? Doing this seems simple as only 2 cables to run to connect it up as long as it all communicates OK. I could then still used the mounted BMV 712 display and the Victron Connect App as well as the Cerbo visual display on my phone as well?

Please advise if this would work?

Thanks

VE can, VE bus and VE direct connections can all be used at the same time on the cerbo.

I do believe there is also a max of one GX device per system, i don’t know if you can disable or bypass the internal GX in the multiplus.

Thanks Mac, can the Cerbo also interact with Victron devices but Bluetooth at the same time as well?

Sorry Mac that should read, “can the Cerbo also interact with Victron devices by Bluetooth at the same time as well as the VE cabled connections?

No, the Cerbo can only connected by wire. Ve.direct, Ve.can/BMS and Ve.bus.

Bluetooth ist only for programming and ve.smart networking at systems with no Gx device s.

At the headline of our post you wrote Multiplus gx, which hat a build in Gx device, so you didn’t need a additional Cerbo

MP Gx offers a very limited numbers of Ports.

If you need more ports you can use a USB Hub for ve.dirct or an VE.dirct hub from druppa

If you want to add a Cerbo to your system you must disable the internal Gx device of the MP Gx by unplug a cable in the Multiplus
