Newbie here, first setup for log in my work truck. Retrofitting from a lead acid setup that keeps boiling off. In the space those batteries were, is about an inch short of the width of the lynx powerin, shunt and distributor when bolted together.
My question is, if I disassemble the powerin to just the metal to slowly and as coldly as possible cut the left ends off flush where the plastic is, will that cause any issues? Probably warranty would be void, but will there be any issues electronically, issues connecting to the shunt, something I’m not thinking about?
Thanks for the help and sorry if it’s been answered before, I searched and didn’t find anything.
The power in has no electronics. The distributor does. (I have cut one or two for space reasons, but never intended to connect them to the rest of the lynx system.) you can disassemble to cut so it tucks inside the cover, Its not terribly complicated to do so.
Only thing is really the neat coating on the bus bar is not there on the cut end so if you need to consider corrosion then tin it. We also added a plastic cover like the one from the other side, in to stop any chance of shorting. I don’t think i know anyone who has ever claimed a warranty on a power in - i could be corrected. Lol.
We’ve done this in very tight quarters. No harm will come from it. Just them short enough to use the plastic insert from the other side of the Lynx PIN to cover the raw copper edges of the bus bars ends.
