Good afternoon. My first post is about something i am still trying to understand after installing my 3 phase multiplus 48/5000, 4x pylontech 5000, CerboGX and ET340 net meter.
My house has 3x25A. It was previously 2 homes and a bakery shop. The prioperty is pretty large. 1 fase is used for each house.
I need the Victron system mainly for peak shaving because of electric car charging, heat pumps and further electrification
All fases have separate solar systems made with in total 6 different solar inverters.
In total there is 12050 watt peak solar panels.
On fase 1 the solar is 5740 wp on the ac2.
The other solar is on ac1 out. Both below 4000 wp
There are 2x goodwe, 1x sofar solar, 3x solar arrays with hoymiles micro inverters. All solar yield is monitored with 4x homewizzard kWh meters and 2x homewizzard plug.
In the cerbo the solar is not recognized.
The ess system seems to work properly using the et340 net meter (meter is directly at the grid input)
Do i need to make the solar visible for the ess to work properly?
Not all the solar connections are in the main cabinet. I have in total 3 separate fuse cabinets from the previously separated houses.
At this moment i am running dess trade mode. No problem in the winter but in the summer i like to try living off grid mode.
Any thoughts about this setup?
I am running venus 3.60 beta 8 without problems.
Hi if you want to make solar production visible you will need more energy meters configured as PV meters, ESS can measure them and they can be displayed on vrm
Also be carefull the 5740 Wp is too high for the 5k inverter, follow the victron 1:0 rule
@DuivertNL 1 know but then i need 6x et112 and some solar panels are about 50 meters away from the system. Going thru the yard, around the pool, crossing the house, opening the street… So running all those extra cables seems to big of a job (when not necessary)
@DuivertNL this solar inverter is about 8 meters away from the victron setup. So relatively easy it is only to buy the mppt replacing a perfectly working inverter. Than i have the input of 1700 wp from the total of 12.050 … So still not convinced of the benefits
When i try ess mode ( not dess ) and there is more solar than ac loads, the battery starts charging. The ess is trying to keep 0 at the meter and all solar yield is going to the battery. When in the evening there is more loads than solar the battery is used to keep 0 at the meter.
I don’t see any extra benefit of measuring the solar but everybody is saying you need the solar input visible for proper calculation… But what should be calculated?
For dess (green mode) i can understand the need to meter the solar yield but for std ess i am in doubt…
@victron what are the chances of implementing the homewizzard api in the official venus os on the cerbo GX?
I am measuring all my solar with homewizzard. Do i really need to buy 3x em24 meters for a total of more than 500 euros and than the next week you make the programming so the cerbo sees it for free …?
