Hi
I have two 12/24 Orion chargers connected to my starter battery/alternator to charge 2x 24v leisure batteries.
The configuration I was given was to loop both remote pins on the chargers so they are connected together on each charger then connect both charger remote together and connect these to an ignition active.
The engine detection is off and input lock out voltage set to 12.5V with reset at 12.8V
This allows the chargers to activate together when the engine is running and when the engine is off they both shutdown as expected.
However, when I connect a trickle charger to the starter battery it is pushing out > 12.8V this seems to be detected by the Orion’s and they try to initiate charging which in turn causes the trickle charger to fallback. If I isolate the leisure batteries the Orion’s kick into charge and have a charging output voltage but obviously can’t charge the batteries so the 12v trickle charger stays on and ramps up its voltage as expected.
So my question - is it possible to trickle charge the starter battery and keep the Orion’s disabled I am guessing the remote wiring I have been suggested is incorrect to allow this as the ignition feed remains at 0v throughout the trickle charger being present so the Orion doesn’t seem to be using this once the voltage rises past 12.8v.
