Use an ignition (+) to override the automatic shutdown detection.
Is is possible to have both?
It seems like diagram labeled: “Enable charging via an ignition switch i.c.w. external on/off option (e.g. BMS ATC contact) d)”, from the manual, is the way to do it, but instead of a BMS controlling the “H” connector (as the diagram shows), I would use a switched + supply. To the “L”, I would connect the Ignition + (only hot when key is in run position).
so the switch, when off, would entirely disable the charger?
I have the exact same question. Would love to see an answer.
I would also like to know if ATC needs to be connected from Lynx BMS NG to Orion XS if DVCC is enabled. It seems like ATC shouldn’t be required with DVCC, but I can’t find that described anywhere in the manuals.
Similar to the above post, I only want to charge from the Orion XS if:
Ignition on
My manual switch is on
The BMS says it’s ok (either via ATC or DVCC)
If any of the three conditions are not met, then I want the Orion to not charge.
There is a diagram (Figure 4) that seems to be the idea. Just replace the BMS lead with a switched positive.
For your idea, you might need to combine 1, 2 and 3 together, maybe with some diodes to prevent interference.
The L connections seem to only “force charging” when the ignition is on, and when off, the XS goes into “automatic” mode, which is not quite what you want. For this, all three of your conditions might need to go through a diode each and then all output of the diodes all go to the “H” connector? That’s an idea best vetted through someone at Victron.
