can I connect a Victron smart 30amp charger to the input side of the Orion DC-DC charger, to keep both starter and leisure battery’s full charged when the engine is stopped. my thinking is, its the same as if the Alternator is running.
A few more details would be useful to identify exactly what you are considering, the post is ambiguous.
Do you mean can you add an ac powered charger with its DC output connected to the Orion input. If this is what you mean then the answer is yes.
As long as the charger has a higher output current that the Orion DC to DC charger.
The Victron IP22 Smart charger is 12 volt 30amp.
The Victron Orion-Tr smart charger Non-Isolated.
Leisure battery’s x 2, are 12v 100amp Lithium iron phosphate.
Starter battery is 12 V 90amp wet flooded.
OK, if you place the ac charger onto the input of the Orion then that will be OK.
I have not reviewed the in detail, but one comment I will make is all the resettable breakers you show have a very poor reputation for poor contact resistance, overheating and not breaking at the correct setting. Consider either using reputable brands such as Blue Sea or swapping to isolators and fuses.
Thank you for your input and advise,
Owen, Pwfarnell, Appreciate the feedback on this post. It appears to be very similar with my marine system I’m attempting to modify. I have a similar question, as I was wondering if the Orion DC-DC Charger could control the charging from both the alternator and AC Charger both the House (Frig) and Start battery bank. Owen mentioned his start battery was a 90am wet flooded, but the diagram shows it as a LION, which I assume is a LiFiPo. Also, pwfarnell mentioned I would need to “place ac charger onto the input of the Orion”. In my diagram I show it connected to the Start battery (Port Battery Bank), which is connected to the Orion. Is this not correct? Thanks!

Your drawing is correct, the Orion will charge the frig battery from the alternator or ac charger. You will.need to set the engine shutdown detection so that the Orion engine shutdown voltage is just below the float voltage on the ac charger.
The Orion will only charge from starter battery to frig battery.
Thanks PW. I was looking at an alternative option to avoid charging my Frig battery (when running the GENSET) via my Start battery via the Orion DC-DC Charger. Why do i want to avoid this; 1) as you mentioned, the frig battery will not charge if the ProNautic battery charger drops the voltage below the engine shutdown level because the Start battery is fully charged and 2) for fear that it could impact my Start Battery charging correctly. Option B adds an A-B Switch to switch the third bank of my existing ProNautic battery charger from the GENSET battery (keeping this charged when on shore power) to the Frig battery (keeping this charged when running the GENSET. This should work, as my GENSET battery would get charged via the GENSET alternator when the GENSET is running, which would also provide 115V to the ProNautic Battery charger which would power the two Engine battery banks and the Frig battery. Thouths? Thanks again!

Any thougths? Thanks!
It may well work like you suggest, I have tried to understand the layout and it appears correct.
