Off-grid installation ( Inverter Multiplus-II 48/5000/70-50, SmartSolar Charger MPPT 150/60, CerboGx, 2 batteries Pylontech US5000 )
When disconnecting the BMS cable between the battery bank and the Cerbo, the charger apparently “loses its mind,” causing the inverter to display a low-battery alarm and then disconnect, even though the voltage of the connected battery has never dropped below 49.5 volts. VRM Dashboard shows a virtual drop till 30,74 volts.
I think this software needs to be improved. It is necessary to implement the option of disconnecting the BMS through VictronConnect without causing a power interruption.
(Cerbo Charger conected by VE.Direct and Cerbo Multiplus by VE.bus)
This is as designed for system safety. If you have a managed battery and the BMS is not seen in the timeout window, the system will shutdown. Several posts already on the subject on the archived community.
Well, it doesn’t seem very elegant that the inverter starts beeping and indicating low battery voltage when its terminals (connected to the thickest cables in the installation) maintain the correct voltage and haven’t experienced any variations.
On the other hand, I don’t know if the cause-effect relationship (loss of the BMS and inverter shutdown) is justified, since the inverter can operate without a BMS.
