How to (with what) can I setup a Multiplus 2 parallel installation

Hi,

I have searched and googled the internet and I cannot find an answer to my question. So hopefully someone in this forum can point me in the right direction.

I am living off-grid with a Victron solar installation installed.
It is a single Multiplus II 48/5000/70 with 4 Pylontech battery’s and a Cerbo-GX.
When I ordered all parts I also have ordered a VE.direct to USB cable of which I was told that I needed it to install the Multiplus/Cerbo-GX.
Afterwards, I did not use it, everything including the firmware update of the Multiplus II could be done using the local and online VRM on the Cerbo-GX.

I am very content with the systems functionality but there is one thing that I walk into. Once a week the system shuts down for a minute because we just did not pay attention to the amount of devices we are using at the same time. The max power of one Multiplus II is just not enough. So I decided to expand the system with an extra Multiplus II. I want to use it in parallel mode to double the max power.

When I see video’s on YouTube where the process is explained they all use another module then I have … the MK3 VE.bus to USB adapter which plugs in directly to the VE.bus of the Multiplus II. When starting VictronConnect there appears to be a popup saying that there is another inverter detected, how would you like to setup this inverter …

I have not connected the new Multiplus yet, I am waiting for the battery cables to arrive.

My question is, do I need the EUR 70,- MK3 VE.bus to USB cable to setup the two Multiplus inverters in parallel mode or will the VE.direct to USB adapter I already have do the trick ?
Or can the (local or online) VRM also configure the two Multiplus inverters in parallel mode ?

Regards,

Arjan

Negative. You need the ve bus to usb adaptor to initially set up the parrallel in programming.

At the end of the day as well it is best for on site problem fixing.

Okay thx, I will order that adapter to
