GX monitoring of multiple MPPT chargers with VE Smart Networking

Hi, I have a 75/15 MPPT charger with bluetooth and have successfully uploaded its data to VRM through a Raspberry running Venus OS. I intend to add another MPPT for another solar array but will charge the same battery. If I set these 2 MPPTs up for VE Smart Networking, do I need another VE Direct USB cable to connect to my Raspberry, or just 1 from 1 charger will do (seeing as they will share data with each other through bluetooth)? Thanks!

You either use a wired solution or a Bluetooth network. When trying to use both odd errors can occur giving erratic behaviour. In your case, 100% recommendation is another VE Direct to USB cable.

Sorry can you help me clarify, does that mean I can synchronise the 2 MPPTs unit through the GX, without using VE Smart Networking? I’m mainly looking at this synchronization, so that they can go into absorption and floating together. If it’s possible without VE Smart Networking then great, I can go with another Bluesolar without bluetooth instead.

The GX will not make them synchronise as far as I am aware. Set the charging parameters the same. One will go into absorption and float first but that is not normally an issue because at this stage the battery is limiting the current and synchronised will not increase the charging. You could have 1 in absorption producing 10A and the other in float producing nothing or both synchronised producing 5A in absorption.

A non Bluetooth would work OK, and you can program it via VRM through the GX device.
