Adding Smartsolar mppt's to existing system with Smartnetworking

Hi guy’s. I’ve been stalking for a long time but it seems this is going to be my first post.

A quick run-around showcasing my system. I’ve started small and expanded my system to where it is now so I’m not going through the whole history.

I’ve got 3 x Multiplus 48/3000/50’s running in parallel, single phase, a Venus GX device, 1 x Smartsolar 150/70Tr with 4 strings of 3 x 330W panels, connected to 4 x FreedomWon e5000 Etowers.

The 150/70Tr is connected to the GX device via ve.direct cable, panels facing North.
I am installing another 6 x 600W panels now, one string of 3 running through a Smartsolar 150/45, facing East and another string of 3 running through a 150/45, facing West.

The installation is almost finished but I have a question regarding the Smartsolar device and my understanding of the Victron Smartnetworking through bluetooth. My initial thought was that if I create a network with the original 150/70Tr, which is connected to the GX device via ve.direct cable, and connect the two 150/45’s through smartnetworking, It will show up on my VRM setup.
I can see the 150/70 in the device list but not the other 2, even though they’re all connected on the same smartnetwork and shows “synchronised charging” and “network OK”

Am I wrong to assume that when connected through smartnetworking, the 2 other mppt’s wil show up on the console? Also note that they’re connected to the battery but not to the PV arrays yet.

Should I conenct them with ve.direct cables each?

I’ve rebooted the GX after creating the smartnetworkbut no luck. I however have not restarted the 150/70Tr yet.

Any assistance or suggestions?

VE Smart Networking or wired VE direct should be seen as either / or not and. Running both simultaneously can be unpredictable results. The synchronised charging may work but you will not see the other devices, so the overall system will not work as intended especially if the batteries manage charging via DVCC. There is no guarantee that the one VE Direct connected MPPT will be the master in the future.

Disable the VE Smart Network and connect the new MPPTs by VE Direct cables.

Okay. Thanks. That’s what I thought. Will do that and report back. First need to get more cables.
